Goldenballs for Elle!

Today it has been revealed that Elle magazine will feature David Beckham as its first solo male cover star.

Now, Its no surprise that I love a bit of Becks oggling - I did a post in January about his underwear range for H&M (http://www.lipstickglamour.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/david-beckham-for-h.html).

For the cover, photographer Doug Inglish decided to replicate that memorable moment where Daniel Craig made his way out of the sea in those swim shorts. Eye candy much?

This is groundbreaking news for the women's magazine industry. Usually, Elle covers are graced with beautiful females flaunting gorgeous clothes and flawless make-up. This July 2012 cover shakes things up a bit. But why for the sudden change?

‘David Beckham is a national hero,’ ELLE Editor in Chief Lorraine
Candy said. ‘He is an icon and Elle is known for featuring icons on
its cover. This is a first for us on the newsstand and I believe he is
loved by men and women alike.Anyway, who doesn’t want to see a
picture of one of the world’s most handsome men on the front
cover of a magazine? It will be a collector’s issue.’

David Beckham is, in fact, the unofficial mascot of the GB team for the up and coming Olympics, and so it is understandable that Elle decided to pounce on him first - even if he doesn't fit their usual cover criteria.

Soon enough good old Beck's face (and bod) will be EVERYWHERE. Well...there's no complaints on my end!
